Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. A child of Irish origins, who was surrounded she was by gifted parents and family did this naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin in Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons was a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as young and became very good in them. Her ability to perform perfectly complemented her passion for sport. As evidenced by winning pretty much every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and allowed her to live out her dream in classical theater and singing opera.
